Donald Phillip "Donnie" Bischoff, 83, of New Haven, passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born June 6, 1935, in Louisville. He was a dairy farmer. He formerly served on the board of the Nelson County Farm Bureau and was once named Master Conservationist by the Nelson County Conservation District. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie Phillip and Viola Jean Beckley Bischoff; one son, Joel T. Bischoff; and one brother-in-law, Leonard Eickholtz.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carol Stuppy Bischoff; one son, Timothy Bischoff (Stacey), of New Haven; three sisters, Carolyn Eickholtz, of Charlestown, Ind., Janet Grolmes (Mike), of Shelbyville and Jeannie Bischoff, of Louisville; three grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion, "Boots."
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church St. in New Hope. The Rev. Ken Fortener and the Rev. Matt Hardesty will concelebrate with Deacon Stephen Bowling assisting. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, in Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Stephen Bowling.
