Donald Merritt Bowles

BOWLES, Donald Merritt - Of Otisville, age 94, died Monday, July 18, 2022 at his residence.

Per Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held.

Don was born in Flint, Michigan on June 28, 1928, the son of the late Frederick and Florence Bowles. He married Jacqueline Perkins on August 24, 1946, and remained married for 76 years, till Jacqueline’s death on April 2, 2022. Don joined the Army and served in World War II in Korea. After his service, he returned to Flint, completing college with a degree in Accounting. While working at GM, he started his family of four sons. After graduation, Don got a job in Payroll at the Flint Truck Plant, and part time job at James Lumber on Fenton Road, where in 1951, he had an accident, severing his first finger and thumb on his right hand. Don worked in Payroll for GM till his retirement in 1980 as Head of Operations for GMASA, a project he helped developed and ran.

Surviving are sons, Paul of Killaloe, Ontario, David (Irene) of Bradenton, FL, Mark (Denise) of Grand Blanc and Kirk (Yvonne) of Otisville;

8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren;

And brother, Francis Edwin of Virginia Beach.

He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marian Rice (Darrell) of Haslet, MI.
