I just learned that Skip passed in June. I was late receiving this shocking news because I retired from the practice of law a couple of years ago, and since then I have been more or less out of touch with the members of the Mobile Bar Association. I knew Skip professionally, from our law practices. He was a good lawyer and a good guy, and I always enjoyed talking with him. My condolences to the Brutkiewicz family.

Skip and I had long talks and short hellos often. He knew me all my life.... We most recently talked about him building onto the back of the office, a carriage house, so he could live downtown... I missed the funeral due to work, but extend my condolences and gratitude to his family.. I miss him and our frank chats about many things from law to antiques as he would stop by the shop often. His heart was always full for so many people.

Skip was a really sweet friend to both Robert and me. I will miss his infrequent calls to ask how I was, but mostly to talk politics. I will miss those calls.

I will always be grateful for when Skippy stopped in the middle of the Azalea trail 10K to help my dad (Booper) who had passed out and hit his head. My parents have always claimed he saved him and stayed until ambulance came.
