Not sure what to say?

Dear Erin, Kristen and Mikelan,
We were so sorry to hear about your father, one of the kindest of men. Both of your parents were among the best human beings we have known--for their remarkable intelligence, wit, and exceptional kindness, and for their commitment to making the world a better place for children and for all. Each will be missed. Oddly, the day before Don died, we came across a photo of the two of them taken during our unforgettable trip to Greece in 1992. It will serve as a...

Dear Don, you were a delight and will be missed.
Both Don and Sherrill were always open armed with wide smiles when we dropped by or shared a meal. They were our first neighbors in Port Townsend and shared with us their love of PT and of Kansas and of their family. And oh those KU games.

Dear girls, I am so sorry to hear of your dad's passing, he was such a great man and very influential in my teaching career. He was my supervisor and mentor in Educare from 1989-91. I learned so much from him in those few years; how to talk to kids, adults, and adversaries and have carried those skills with me in the last 21 years of teaching. I will never forget the memory I have of meeting your mom for the first time; she walked into the classroom and her beautiful smile was just so...

Dearest Erin, Mikelan & Kristen, Both of your parents meant so much to me, taught me so much that I use to this day. I was recently just thinking about your Dad and our wonderful time working at Woodlawn. Please know I am holding you all close in my heart as you share memories of this good man.

Don was an intellectual free spirit, always seeking better ways to teach and to learn. He was a great colleague.

As a former Fire Inspector for the City of Lawrence, I had the opportunity to meet and work with both Don and Sherrill on a yearly basis. They took me over to their newly remodeled house, gave me a complete tour and later sent me email pictures of their vacation home on the west coast. They were such special - special people and it was an honor to have the opportunity to know them. May God bless the entire family at this time. Sincerely, Dave Davis

Erin , Mikelan and Kristen, how lucky you were to have Don and Sherrill as parents. We count ourselves fortunate to have enjoyed their friendship. What joy they had in each other, their family and their lives. The world is a better place that they were in it. With deepest sympathy- Ken and Gina Baun

Don was a bright light, a man generous with his help, his knowledge, his thoughts and his humor.
I'm very sorry for your loss

With deepest sympathy to the family during your time grief. Psalms 46:1 says God is for us a refuge and strength and a help readily to be found during difficult times. May God provide you with peace and comfort to endure the days ahead.
