Don and I became close friends during law school, and that friendship lasted for his entire life and mine. He went through a trial by fire in the law practice after his father died suddenly shortly after Don entered practice. That experience gave him a mental toughness which went well with his intelligence and understanding of people. He became a great lawyer. I valued his opinion on any legal issue and often asked it. I will miss him dearly.

I am so saddened to hear of the untimely death of my friend, Don. His wonderful Family was among the first folks that I met when I moved to Pikeville. Don impressed me with his dry wit, extreme intelligence, and gentle nature. He was a most capable Attorney and an outstanding man, who will always be held in the highest esteem. I offer my most sincere condolences to Leslie, Elizabeth and Don. Don was so proud of his Family's accomplishments. Bobby, my thoughts are with you, my Friend.

RIP, brother. I enjoyed our conversations together during the short few years I knew you.

I worked at Transylvania University when Don was a student there, and I probably typed at least 25 or 30 papers for him. Such a nice guy - always so pleasant, polite, and friendly. And yes, very proud of being from Pikeville. We had many discussions about Pikeville as I had had relatives there for a number of years and had spent some time there myself. To see Don´s obituary was heartbreaking. I send my sincere sympathy to his family and pray for God´s peace and comfort for each of you. ...
