Donald "Buddy" Cook passed away peacefully at his home April 12, 2017 surrounded by his loving wife of 51 years and 2 of his daughters. He was 75 years old. Buddy was born October 15, 1941 in Colquitt, Georgia to Irue and Roscoe Cook. He grew up as the oldest son of 8 children. At a very young age and following the death of his father, Buddy was forced to quit school to help his mother provide for the family. It was then that he began in the roofing business and over the years his natural talent in the trade became his career. On March 25, 1966, he married the love of his life, Patricia and was the father to 5 adoring daughters. He raised his family in a small town north of New Orleans, Louisiana until relocating in 1991 to Loganville, Georgia. In 1994, he found his forever home in Greensboro, Georgia and resided here until his death. Buddy loved the outdoors and could usually be found sitting in his shed just watching nature. He was a man of few words, but observed everything. His family was precious to him and never turned down an opportunity to play cards. His seafood gumbo was second to none and his low county boils should have been famous. One of the proudest moments of his life was becoming a grandpa. Every second spent with his 6 grandsons and 3 granddaughters was precious. Just before he passed, he was also blessed with his first great granddaughter. His family was his world and he was theirs. He was a loving, kind and generous man and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia of Greensboro, Georgia; daughters, Cynthia Pierce (John) of Panama City, Florida, Christine Ruffino of Covington, Louisiana and Teresa Sitler (John) of Greensboro, Georgia; 9 grandchildren, Austin Pierce (Katelyn), Jacob and Cody Sheffield, Emma and Chloe Ruffino, Brady, Carson, Sam and Molly Sitler; and great granddaughter, McKinley. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Penny Rehm and Donna Sheffield; sisters, Patricia Gaitan and Linda Derbes; and brother, Larry Cook.
