Donald Cummings II

Oh my gosh I just found out that both Mom and Dad have passed. I don't really search the internet that much obviously putting on the list I'd like to extend my sincerest condolences to you and yours . Your father was a very talented and accomplished man and all of you be so proud that you got to call him dad as you are. My thoughts are with all of you.

I recall how well he got along with my husband - both loved deer hunting. Don and Mary Lou were both welcoming people, always saw that you were comfortable. We knew both Don and Mary Lou over 19 years. Mostly we visited at their farm retreat at Lenhartsville. I now realize his death was on the anniversary of my brother who was killed in a motorcycle accident July 20, 1967. Don wanted to meet my other brother James who served 34 years in the US Navy on 5 different aircraft carriers...

In my mind, Don was a thoughtful, considerate, and kind gentleman. When I first e-mailed him about the tragedy of the Hobson & the Wasp years ago he was more than kind in writing me about his experience. He even was kind enough to bring his beautiful wife to visit with the widow of CAPTAIN BILL TIERNEY, MARY TIERNEY, at Saint Francis Country House in Lansdowne, Pa. Mary was in her eighties by that time as I suspect Don was. At the time, he presented Mary with a beautiful print of the USS...

In my memories of Donald Cummings He was a very kind and thoughtful man filled with the zest for the unexpected beauty and simplicities that nature brought to him with heart filled laughter that made you smile with child like shyness. I am truly sorry for such a sorrowful loss.

Don and Mary Lou Cummings were very loving and caring people. We (Kate Bretz and Pat Bretz) got to know Don and Mary Lou while they were visiting at their farm near Lenhartsville. We visited them last at their farm in June of 2009. I took photos of both of them. I was visited by them when my husband died in May 2012. They were so kind to me at that time. My condolences to their family.

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Don. I grew up knowing that Don and my father, Edgar, were childhood friends, and maintained that friendship until my father's death in 1975. We spent many summers at the farm, I had many fond memories. Don and Mary Lou stayed in touch, and continued to support the Christy family on numerous occasions. He was a great man, and I'm sure Don and Edgar are enjoying the continuation of their friendship in heaven, for eternity.

Dear Don & Family,

I just wanted to add some thoughts.

I talked to your father several mornings a week when I went to the apartment building for coffee. It was always a delight to chat with him. The majority of times he spoke of Mary Lou and how much he missed her; and how he was trying to sort through her beautiful paintings. They were a lovely couple.

I am so sorry for your loss. They will both be remembered fondly.
