Donald Desender Obituary

Donald Lee Desender

COSHOCTON: Donald Lee Desender, age 76, of Coshocton, passed away at Hospice Truman House in New Philadelphia, Ohio, on Monday, February 6, 2017. He was born on August 16, 1940 in Amboy, Illinois to the late August and Eleanor (Luikart) Desender. On June 3, 1962, he married Dixie (Welker) Desender who survives.

Don owned and operated Dixie Vending for many years; was the Parts and Service Manager for Welker Sales and Services for over 20 years, and raised Haflinger horses for almost 25 years at Willow Glen Farm. He was a life member of the Elks, loved his horses, enjoyed golfing, and coached little league football, basketball, and golf. Don was a real people person and made friends everywhere he went. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his wife Dixie of 54 years; three sons, Donald (Darcy Dooley) Desender Jr. of Mt. Sterling, Ohio, David (Christi) Desender of Norwich, and Darin (Connie) Desender of Coshocton; six grandchildren, Nicole (Martina) Desender, Jordan (Adriel Harris) Desender, Brooke (Michael Moore) Desender, Lyndsey Desender, Alexia Desender, and Logan Desender; sister-in-law, Carol (Wendell) Davis of West Lafayette; niece Brooke (Jerry) Gowl; nephew, Charles (Sara) Davis; and three great-nieces.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2017 from 1:00 pm-3:30 pm at Given-Dawson Funeral Home. The Newcomerstown Elks will honor Don with a brief service beginning at 3:30 p.m. with the memorial service to follow with Reverend Bill Eckert officiating.
