Not sure what to say?

I just found out that Rev. Don passed away. I was a member of Elmendorf Reformed Church. My mother, Ruby Charlton was a Sunday school teacher there. My sisters Renee and Arnita Charlton and myself, sang on the choir and we were members of the youth groups. I remember Rev. Don as a tall, blonde man, with twinkly eyes and a warm smile. For some reason I remember his cheeks being red and him always rocking back and forth on his heels with his hands in his pants pockets when he spoke. He helped...

This man of God meant the world to me. Many years ago he counseled me during very stressful times and I ended up joining his church at Second Reformed. Bless you, Pastor Don. I look forward to seeing you in our home everlasting.

As a young girl growing up in East Harlem my family were staunch members of Elmendorf Reform Church. Rev. Don was a very instrumental and integral part of our family and Community. Our sincerest condolences to the DeYoung family.

As young people my husband and I enjoy your Rev Don´s preaching also his words of encouragement. He was a wonderful and Spiritual leader. Mrs De Young was warm, sweet and oh so kind. May God continue to bless your family.

Our prayers for your family Don was such a big part of our family at Twin Lakes. He baptized my children and I remember he showed up at my house in Otsego on day to say a blessing over it I´ll never forget how special I felt that day that he took time to do that.

Don, Kevin, Shari & Bonnie, your dad was Uncle Don to the Henninges kids. We looked forward to that VW bus pulling into our driveway with kids from Elmendorf or all of you for a visit. What tremendous legacy your dad left! My sincere condolences for your loss, from one PK to all of you!

Condolences to Jackie and the DeYoung family. Don was a treasure in our community, a true suffering servant. We have wonderful memories of this dear man and will always remember his gentle smile and kindness to others. We remember when he visited Bob during cancer treatment. He made the time special. Rest In Peace DDY.

From meeting Don in the Hospice of Greater Kalamazoo Volunteer training class in the 80s to sponsoring him in CROP walks, we never failed to share a smile and laughter. Don was one of a kind... the world has lost a kind and gentle soul. He will be missed. In sympathy to the DeYoung Family... Jan

My sincere condolences to Pastor´s family. I will always remember his many visits to Borgess patients, where he would share a kind message for the caregivers too. He was "Pastor" to us all.
