Not sure what to say?

Don was my teacher at Santana when I was in 10th grade. He became a surrogate grandfather to me and a really good friend. I ended up buying my house across the street from his house and our friendship continued. Don could always make me laugh no matter how bad things were at the time. He became a grandfather to my children also. Unfortunately, my life took a turn and had a lot of bad changes. This led me to lose touch with Don and I am so sorry about that. I cherished his friendship. I got a...

Dear Mary and Family,

Wow! I just read about Don's passing. I missed you guys at the Hoover reunion.

I've known Don for 70 years, and although I seem to be at loss of words right now, I can't help but remember all the good memories we shared throughout High School and serving in the National Guard.

Celebrating a life well lived. We will cherish the memories forever.

Coach Donnelly was one of the best loved coaches when I was at Morse High School. My family sends our condolences for your loss of a very nice man.

My mother and I got to know Mary and Don via Padre season tickets. Such a great man and wonderful couple. After we let our season tickets lapse, we lost contact with Mary and Don, yet I always will remember our great times together. A wonderful sense of humor as well. I'm very saddened by this loss. I did not realize Don had done so much during his life, but I'm not surprised. We often struck up conversations because of his love of the sciences, which matched my passion as well. My...

I feel fortunate to have known and worked with Dr. Don Donnelly. I started teaching math at Santana H.S. in Jan. '83, so I didn't know him as well as the old-timers who were there from the start, but, nonetheless, I got to know him and enjoy his keen sense of humor. I remember calling to congratulate him on his (I think) 70th wedding anniversary when he put the notice in the newspaper. He was partying and told me he was married 35 years and his wife was married 35 years, hence the 70th...
