Not sure what to say?

I have been thinking about my former teacher often lately as I approach the age he was when we lost him. Some of the memories go back long before I moved to Cleveland as a new student in 1976. There were some great times!

Dear Don -- you are always in my heart and mind. I quote you in my books and in lectures I give. You are missed very much. We have always enjoyed your family, your magnificent wife adorable daughters and courageous son. I post more condolences to the family. Your departure has left a hole that will never be filled. Miss you loads.

After losing my father just last year, I know what a tremendous loss this is to Matt and his family. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and loved ones of Don Erb.

Don Erb was a truly outstanding teacher. And he made CIM into a very exciting and dynamic environment for the study of “contemporary” music.

Even today, 30 years later, my ears rev-erb-erate with his lessons on music and life. My deepest condolences go to his family.

God bless him.

It has been many years since I studied composition at CIM with Dr. Erb. His special way of teaching, his encouragement, his quick wit coupled with his genius will always linger among the fondest of my memories of school. He leaves such a rich legacy. My sincerest condolence go to his wife and family.

Please accept my sincerest condolences. This is such a great loss to so many people. Donald Erb the composer, teacher, colleague, friend, husband, father, and grandfather leaves a giant artistic and personal footprint.

I first met Don when he came to my parents’ house in 1964 when I was still in high school. The Seattle Symphony was performing his Symphony of Overtures on a new music festival at the University of Washington. As an aspiring young composer I was blown away by his music...

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Erb's family. May God Bless Erb's family.

My dear friend has graduated. I believe his remarkable and positive energy will only intensify with time.

I am thankful for the gift of Don Erb in my life.

Knowing, working with, and loving Don has been a beautiful journey that will remain in our hearts and minds with warm feelings for the rest of our lives. We will miss him very much, but his music will keep him alive in our souls.
