TASKER FUNERAL HOME OBITUARY Donald Charles Foye, Sr. Portsmouth, NH - Donald Charles Foye, Sr. – of Portsmouth, NH died at Portsmouth Regional Hospital Saturday, March 12, 2005, following a brief illness. He was born in Rutland, Vermont, December 7, 1919, the son of Leonard and Pauline (Fosburg) Foye. He graduated from Rutland High School, served in the Civil Conservation Corps. and worked briefly for the Rutland Railroad. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944 and served until 1966. He served aboard he USS Philippine Sea during the Korean Conflict. He was then employed by the U.S. Government at the Naval Prison at Portsmouth and as an Athletic Director at the Naval Base in Norfolk, VA. He retired in 1977, and moved to Dover, NH where he and his wife lived until 2003. He married Pauline Dorey in 1941. They had eight children. His wife predeceased him in 2003. He was a champion ski jumper in high school, a Golden Gloves Boxer, a referee in many sports and an avid golfer all his life. He holds the course record at Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth. He is survived by his children, Judi Gosselin, of Boothbay Harbor, ME, Lenny Fairchild of Rumford, ME, Donald Foye, Jr. of Stoughton, MA, Leonard Foye of Port St. John, FL., Patrick Foye of Eliot, ME, Michael Foye of Portsmouth, NH, Brian Foye of Pawleys Island, SC, and Mary Jane Fillebrown of Tenants Harbor, ME, 22 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and his sisters, Carole Morgan of Queensbury, NY and Harriet Fields of San Angelo, TX. Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday March 16th at the Tasker Funeral Home 621 Central Ave., Dover from 10:45a.m. – 12:45 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Church 150 Central Ave. Burial will follow at St. Charles Cemetery. Donald was a wonderful man, I will miss his smiling face and his great hugs. I loved visiting with him. He will be greatly missed here at Edgewood. My prayers go out to his family.

Donald was my roommate at The Edgewood Centre. He was easy to live with. I enjoyed watching films with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

In had the privilege to know this man and play many rounds of golf with him. He was as fine a gentleman as I have ever met in my life. My sincere condolances to his family at this time.

We are well & in Exeter. Doug's been retired since 1/03, I also left the Town @ the same time. Don, your Dad sounds like the kind of guy we would have enjoyed as much as you.
