Worked with Don at the Wildlife Conservation Society. Always appreciated his calm, quiet, wise , down-to-earth, above-the-fray presence.

Don ("Letch") and another man and I were roommates up across Broadway from Columbia, where he was working on his Master's, in the early 1960's. He had all the attributes mentioned in the obituary. He was a good friend. He was thoughtful and insightful, and his sense of humour was indeed wry and unique. I have thought about and missed him all through the years. Donald lit up my and our lives and the lives of so many with gentle fireworks and these are bright colorful memories which will never dim and provide even an existential form of artistic solace.
