Not sure what to say?

I had mr. Gus' music appreciation class "From Bach to Rock" fall of '76. He was such a dynamic, knowledgeable and entertaining teacher. I dearly would have loved to take any of his voice classes but my schedule never allowed. I did enjoy many lunchtimes in his room singing with friends and playing Canasta. He's dearly missed. God Bless him.

Mr. Gus was a gentle and wonderful teacher. He listened and he genuinely cared about his students and he brought out the best in them. I will always appreciate and love him for his kindness and genuine caring for me during school and after graduation. (Class of 1978).

Always in my heart.

Don Gustafson was one of the biggest influences on my life and gave to me the everlasting gift of music. I was in his choir in 1968 and 1969. We have exchanged Christmas cards every year since then and I shall deeply miss him. I'm sure that the choirs in Heaven are happy to have a new director. It is heaven's gain and our deep loss.

Mr. Gus taught me so much about music, and he was one of my favorite teachers. I was so sad to learn of his passing. I feel so fortunate to have had the experience of being his student, singing in the chior at Chatsworth High. I will miss him very much, and remember him always.

I just saw this today and am saddened to know that dear Mr. Gus has passed on. Mr. Gus was the best teacher I ever had. He taught me so much more than music. When I was in school, there was never a day that passed by without taking time to hang out in Gus' room, even when I was not supposed to be there. He will always be remembered and honored for being a great teacher, mentor and friend.

Mr. Gus was one of the best of an outstanding faculty of Chatsworth High but few knew what an outstanding Counselor he was. It was my privledge to work next to him and witness the care and wisdom he shared with all who came to him. Rest in Peace!!!

Mr. Gus, as he liked to be called, was and still is a man of strong integrity. He treated all who were fortunate to meet him with respect. As a teacher, he had a positive influence beyond words that has lasted me my entire life. I was fortunate enough to have known him in Chorus and Choir at Chatsworth High School. During a personal time in my life, he treated me with dignity and as a caring parent. I was blessed to have remained in contact by recieving his wonderful Christmas cards and...
