Not sure what to say?

I loved his open book exams. "feel free to open your books; sit on it and anything you can get through osmosis you can use." My brother and I took his class. We both loved him. Professor Haley was more than a teacher; he was an inspiration. He is remembered and he will be remembered by those who were lucky to take his class.

I often quote Captain Haley (what he used to call himself). I just quoted him today, which was what inspired my to do a Google search for him. Needless to say, I was very sad to learn of his passing. No teacher/professor had more of an impact on me and my interest in history; he was - by far - my favorite/most memorable teacher ever. Thank you Captain Haley; may you rest in peace.

I remember Don favorably during our days at El Camino College. I taught full-time in the Business Division from 1980-1998, so I was on the other side of the campus from Don. I always had favorable interactions with him. I wish to express my condolences to the family. Best wishes.

Mr. Haley's ancient history courses at El Camino led me to become a history teacher. I'll never forget "Happy Haley History" and those who came into class late "violating the stage of history." I can only hope to change as many students' lives as he certainly did.

Just found out about the passing of Professor Haley. He was an awesome professor..I was there n his history class at El Camino. Such an amazing teacher! Fun fun fun! I was a friend of his wife. I know he is again traveling the continents. Peace.

Professor Haley was the kind of educator that students keep in their hearts throughout their lives. Thank you for making me believe I could even when I was convinced I couldn't.

A gentleman, scholar, and my best friend ... certainly the most unique individual I've ever known. I miss you, Donnie Joe.
