Not sure what to say?

Don and Gloria were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood in Oregon. Don and Gloria became our children's adopted grandparents. We will always treasure the many memories we shared during those 3 short years, especially the one when Don dressed up as Santa for our two little ones. He made the long trip up our stairs even though he was experiencing pain and shortness of breath. Don lived life to the fullest!! We will miss him dearly.

How proud I was to be the sister of Don. All six of us were so happy when the Lord sent him to be part of our family. We all, being older, enjoyed him as he grew up. We had a reason to be proud of Don as he spent so much time doing good and making others happy. He thought of us, even thought we lived far from him. He would send us things he thought we would enjoy. I cannot help but know, with all his suffering, he has to be happy to be with the Lord. We sure miss him.

Mr. Hanken,(I always call him that), is what one would term a "good" man--lived with joy and kindness in his life which he was generous and quick to share with others, never let adversity change his personality for the worse, had a love affair with his wife where they were a team in all things. I'll miss him very much and hope he's watching over all of us still.

I met Don while waiting at Family House for my double lung transplant in Pittsburgh. I loved his sense of humor in such a sad place. I could wait to wake-up in the morning because I knew it would be another good day because Don was there. He mad me forget that I was dying and everything was going to be ok. Don was more to me than a friend. He was my mentor of life, the father I never had and I will always love and remember him with each passing day.

Don Hanken was the best father-in- law anyone could ever ask for. In my life he was the most fatherlike person I could ever call Dad. I know he loved and cared about me; I really loved and cared about him. He was a wonder grandparent to my children. Eric, Lisa, and I will miss him very much. We all have the best memories. Those memories will always make us smile. The little tear we get in the corner of our eye is because we wish he was still here with us. He lived is...

What a great guy to have for a Father-in-law...I couldn't have done any better than to land in his family. A beautiful soul who I'll miss very much...but I've got loads of great memories to keep me smiling. He's probably playing Santa with the cute angels...

My Dad fought a long hard fight. He is now at rest, in peace with no pain. He's gone to be with his Father. Dad still lives on in the people he left a part of himself with. He touched many lives and will be missed by many. I will always be proud to be his son.

To Gloria and family: We offer our deepest sympathy in your loss of Don. We know that Don is in a better place now and is no longer in pain. He is probably joking around with the angels in heaven and keeping watchful eye on his family. He was one in a million and Keith and I thought so much of him.
