Crushed and dismayed by such terrible news of Don's passing.
Like Joan Inglis Smart, I was in Hanover's class of '69. We all admired Don and sister Debbie, as they set such an example of class, joy, and leadership. I'll remember them both forever. Prayers with the entire family in their loss of this wonderful guy.

Donald is a friend. We, Donald and Deborah, went through school (first thru twelfth) together. Donald was inquisitive, smart, and just a great guy. He was a very good Basketball player and Captain of the Tennis team. He was the class President for Hanover High School class of 1968. Donald wrote in the yearbook “A great man is made up of qualities that meet or make great occasions.” You Don had those qualities and more. I miss you buddy.

I am so sorry to hear of Don's passing. Unfortunately we lost touch with each other since our years at Rutgers. We were roommates and close friends. We reconnected a little over a year ago when my daughter was considering colleges in Boston and we vowed to get together should I get there but unfortunately I never did. I was at Rutgers last week cleaning out my daughter's dorm room and as I sat in front of our old apartment I tried to reach out to Don at an old number that I had with no...

My husband and I met Don during the Frank McCauley administration as we all on the team who campaigned for him and continued into his terms as mayor....Don was without any doubt one of THE nicest fellows in that group of people.....always so friendly and polite when you'd see him, even after the McCauley years were over....So sad to realize what he has gone through the past years, and probably without a complaint....Rest in peace Don.....our memories of you will always be happy...

I was so sorry to read of Don's passing. I worked with (and for) Don many years ago during his earliest days with the City of Quincy. Although we did not stay in touch, I still remember him as bright, articulate and dedicated. He was blessed with natural leadership talents and had the special ability to relate to people of every status within the City. I admired his commitment to his responsibilities and, of course, I enjoyed his sense of humor. Reading about him today, I'm not surprised...
