We, Da Gunner's Easy Company brothers, had the wonderful opportunity to meet and be with the Gunny and his son Scott at our Reunion in 2005 in Las Vegas. Anybody who ever met the Gunny will always remember him fondly. A truly outstanding Marine, in every way and an inspiration to all whom he came in contact with. Gunny and his Easy Co brothers who proceeded him are now charged with the duty of guarding Heaven's streets and I guarantee you are having a heckuva reunion. Troy Watson, ...

The entire Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune expresses our sympathy to the family members. Many of us remember Gunner and Max setting up their display boards and providing valuable lessons on the Chosin Reservoir and survival. Don was a living persona of Marine Corps history that we treasure and will always respect - Marine Gunner! Semper Fi Don
