Not sure what to say?

I rode at the Portland and helped Bill Wilson teach children how to ride English saddle in late fifties. Pinky drove a red and white 55 Ford crown victoria and attended Beaverton HS. He was always friendly and kind, I was sad to hear of his passing. His mom and dad were also very kind. The atmosphere around there was beautiful and I have fond memories.

Fondest memories of Sunwood, Kathy and Don. Kathy, it was bad timing to talk, but Don and my mom were in hospice at the same time. Mom passed 2 days after Don. Weird how times bring everyone back. I'm sorry for your loss, for the families loss.. for all our losses. My dad gave him a big compliment: One of the good men in horses - an honest man.

With tremendous sympathy,

Jimmie Rainwater & Don

I first met Don while showing horses in the late 1950's. His quiet confidence, easy smile and caring personality made him very popular on the show circuit.
I will always remember the wonderful hospitality I received from Don, and his parents, while staying in their home during the various Oregon horse shows.
I remember relaxing in the Kerron home, looking at pictures of Harry and Flora Jane from years gone by.
I remember lazy days spent in “Punkie's Pool” located on...

I met Don in the late 1940s when I was 6 and he was 9. He was then known as Punky and we always enjoyed a verbally, sparing friendship. My earliest memory is when he told me he didn't think my father and I deserved 3rd in the 1949 Civic Horseshow Family Class. Then he asked if he could ride my pinto show pony. I told him he was too fat. The caustic but fun spirited conversations went on for decades with me teasing him about his only talent being riding old school horses. With my father...

I have so many great memories growing up in Garden Home, just a short walk down the bridle trail from the Frank Estate and the Portland Riding Academy. Don was my first riding instructor, and also judged the first show I was in (at Wishing Well), the two ribbons I won there hang on the wall in my office. I also rode at Sunwood and then managed Woodmere next door after Joan sold and moved to Seattle. Don was a wonderful horseman, great neighbor and brain to pick when I first moved to...

Dear Kathy,

I just heard from Robin about Don and am sick to hear of his passing. He was such an amazing horseman and I have such fond memories of Sunwood in the 80's. Too much time has passed bu I will look forward to seeing you on the
28th. Love you and you and the family
are in the thoughts and prayers.

The Northwest lost a great horseman when Donald Kerron passed away. Taught by his father, Harry Kerron, who in turn followed generations of cattle and horse breeders in Scotland and the United States, Donald followed, too ----with an innate sense -- as a consummate caretaker and trainer of horses. Donald's great-grandparents, The William Chalmers, immigrated from Aberdeenshire, Scotland, purchased and settled on the Colonel Cornelius land grants near Roy, Oregon in 1868-9. They were among...

Alec Wilson originally taught me to ride horses. I even boarded my first horse at Nichols Riding Academy {now OES}. I loved riding out on the trails and seeing the Frank Estate and the track and barns of Portland Riding Academy. What a beautiful sight! My mom took me over to PRA and the first person that I met was Don. He was so gracious, introduced me to several other riders and showed me all around. At that time I was showing as a junior rider for my cousin in dressage, english and western...

Such an inspiration to so many equestrians...and such a loss. My thoughts are with you Kathy and family, Suzanne Jauchius
