Not sure what to say?

Remembering with pleasure and appreciation, the guidance of Don and Lois when we were students at Scattergood (1949-1953). Lois prepared breakfast for farm crew on Monday mornings after the milking was done so the crew could spend the forenoon doing more chores. Don was also freshman science teacher. His patient and gentle ways set an excellent example for curious and energetic young folks.

In later years we looked to his leadership in energy conservation and wise care of our...

I met Don in 1962 when he worked as a gifted laboratory technician at University Hospital. I have not seen him in 40 years but I remember him as a quiet man of impressive intellectual and moral wisdom who lived his vision of a proper life. He was an extraordinary man.

Don was a pioneer for renewable energy in Iowa, and a great humanitarian. We who knew him will miss his gentle counsel.
I wish I had been more forceful in suggesting to him that allowing paraffin or any hydrocarbon to touch EPDM was a bad idea.

Don Was a true gentleman, scholar, and a man of principal. Pat and I were truly blessed in knowing Don and Lois for many years through mutual love of science and renewable energy.

I am sorry to read of the passing of a man who lived such an epic life of principle. I am sorry that I only knew of him from afar, but grateful for the morality and humanity of his public voice, and his letters to the editor, which I long posted on my office door at work. My deepest condolences, to Naomi and all of his beloved.

Don you are my hero.
Deep bows of gratitude for all the inspiration!
What a way to live a good life.
It was an honor to work by your side at I-Renew.

Many good memories of Don (and Lois) when we were students at Scattergood and in later years as our families grew, and as our paths crossed on various occasions. He lived a good and productive life and will be missed by all who knew him.
Muriel and (james) Neifert.

Thank you Don for your pioneering work in renewable energy.
