Donald LaVoy

I knew Don mostly from playing poker once or twice a year. He had the most interesting card games. One I continually play is lily pads. Who would have thunk a poker game could be called lily pads. I hope you enjoying lily pads in the great beyond Don, I will see you soon.

It was a sad day when Don left this earth. I remember gathering with him and friends many times to play cards throughout the year , especially on Super Bowl Sunday . Don understood and taught all the "crazy" games that he shared with us ( qualifiers, corners, Lilly pad good guys -bad guys etc. and enjoyed the ones that we brought to his arsenal : elevator, killer queen, pyramid etc. Don was the epitome of a good and honorable person always willing to help others. I knew Doni when we were teenagers. He was my sister-in-law, Kathy's brother. I lived in Florida but would visit Ohio on occasion. I could count on Doni to entertain me. We saw Love Story in 1969 in Toledo at Christmas time, went to midnight mass , we enjoyed going to the Toledo zoo to see the "zoo bears" as he called them. I’m so sorry for your loss. Donald was my parents life insurance agent . He was amazing when my mom had passed and so helpful. He will be missed greatly. I pray that you and your family find strength and peace during things time.

I have worked with Don for the last several years. I have never met a more easy-going, happy, helpful, lovable guy. He loves his kids and his granddaughters more than anything. He will definitely be missed.

First I have never heard you called Donald ( maybe the Nuns did when you were naughty) Donnie, Don yes. As your first cousin, it just dawned on me you were no doubt named after Uncle Don and your middle initial G stands for George your Dad's name. Nick and Krista, We can’t help but smile when we remember our time with Don. Solving the problems of the world around a campfire,tons of laughter,some tears, but mostly enjoying or time together. He was a man of strong faith and we are certain he is at peace. Stay strong in the knowledge, your Dad loved you very much.
