Dio Benedicti, Signor! Jennie Monno Ranelli, of Cumberland, WI, is my mother, 1st cousin Mamie Zappa/Anzevino Legato. My dad, Mario Ranelli, Johnson HS Class of 1940, was a good friend of Donald's, & a WW II Army Air Corps Vet. Our families grew up on the East Side, which was EVERYTHING in those days. For years Mom & I would go on monthly casino trips organized by Val Fercello. Donald Legato & Al Raiola, would always sit behind us on the bus that left Bergen Plaza in Oakdale, MN. Iowa & ...

To the Legato Family,

I send you my deepest and heartfelt condolences on your loss.

Don was my first "official" partner on Squad 308. I always knew when you worked with him that your back was covered and you could depend on him in any situation.

We spent many a hot day, and a cold night working that squad and I feel our bond and partnership to this day. He was a wonderful guy to work with and I know he influenced our other partners in great ways. He was a real cops...

Legato Family,
My heart is sad for you at the loss of a very fine man who always cared and looked out for those he believed in. I have great memories of sharing a smoke and conversation with him for many years in downtown SP. Years later, his first words were always how things were for me and my family. He will be missed!

What a great, gentle man! I always loved our chats and his stories. I'll miss his hugs and brush on the cheek. Thank you, Don, for being a light in my life!

Legato family,
Denise and I are so sorry to hear of Don's passing. He and Mamie were such special people and our lives are richer for having known them. We had so many nice visits with them over the years. I especially remember sitting on the patio with Don and us talking about Mamie's plants and how are we going to move the big Red Wing planters for the winter or listening to Denise and Mamie share planting tips. Don and I had many great conversations in the alley or the garage about the...
