Not sure what to say?

Dear Kathy and family:
It seems like yesterday when we traveled to San Diego and UCSD with Anna only to meet this delightful man named Don who was also from Grand Rapids. He greeted us with such warmth and grace that we knew we would be forever connected to him, and he held Anna with the pride of a grandpa showing off his first-born grandchild. His loss has left a huge hole in your lives, our lives, and in our community, but we know that Don, Anna, and the rest of our loved ones are...

Kathy and family,
I am so very sorry for the loss of your husband, father, and grandfather. You are all in my heart and prayers. Don's celebration of life was a great tribute to him. I admire the strength of each of his kids getting up and sharing memories of their Dad. What great stories!
Don hired me at Davenport 21 years ago and I am so thankful for his continued leadership, support, kindness, and sense of humor. He may have officially retired from DU, but he never retired from...

Don's children gave wonderful tributes to their father today, a man who molded them into who they are as adults today. Don would agree with me however that he is the man-father that he became , molded by his children. Fathers are like gardeners who have planted their garden,...

Don looked great, a true artist's work.

My dear Kathy and family, my prayers are with you as you learn to live without Don who was certainly a man who impacted those around him. We have fond memories and a few good stories from your time on Overbrook.
My love to you all,
Mary Sytsma

Prayers and condolences hail across the miles from Nassau, Bahamas to the Maine family.

As a foreign student at Davenport College (now Davenport University) in 1974 I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting Dr. Maine. I am not surprised to read of his many, many accomplishments over the years for he demonstrated his passion for education and displayed sincere concerns for students many years ago.
It was my honour to have re-connected him just last year which reminded me of my...

DCB Lunch 10/6/17

Kathy, Marybeth, Missy, Matt, and Michael -

Those of us who worked with and for Don mourn the loss of a wonderful friend and colleague. Over the past 45 years, we've shared both family and college/university joys and sorrows and celebrated milestones. The DCB First Friday Lunch Bunch will miss his smile, his laughter, and - especially, his love. We cherish his friendship and his loyalty.

Kathy, we remember our many times with both of you well. Don will be missed. We feel fortunate to have known him. We rejoice in the fact that he is "well". Be assured of our prayers for you and your family. Jim and Kathie Kregel
