Not sure what to say?

Don was a great teacher at Columbia University.

Aloha, our heartfelt condolences go to Pat and Alex and Don's family. Don will be greatly missed by all of Pat's family as well. When Pat's mother, Rose passed on 2015, Don did not seem well, although he was dressed impeccably, of course, with a suit and tie at Rose's wake. Alerted, Steve watched Don with concern, until Don suddenly left the room visibly upset. Steve found Don in the outside hallway, sobbing, and wailing uncontrollably. Steve immediately embraced Don very closely and spoke...

I worked with Don for only a short time but he became a close friend and kindred spirit. Always warm, deprecating, blazingly brilliant and hilarious, Don was a true joy to know and to consider as a friend. With sincere condolences to the Mango family on this tragic loss.

I only worked with Don for 2 years while at American Re, but he had a lasting impact on me as a result of his brilliance, sharp wit, self-deprecating sense of humor, approachability and enthusiasm for life. Don was an absolute giant. Absolutely brilliant, but chose to shine his light on so many people. We all feel the loss, but none more than his family and friends. My very sincere condolences to you.

My condolences go out to Pat and the Mango family. Don has touched many hearts and minds. In addition to his brilliance, he was a true friend. I will always be grateful for his advice, wisdom and loyal support. I will miss him, but I will never forget him. Rest In Peace my friend.

But in contrast to many brilliant people, he made the audience smarter and more informed at the end, rather than feeling dumber in comparison. Our industry as a whole, and many of us individually, are better off because he worked with us. He will be missed. God bless his family at this time.

I offer my sincerest condolences to Don's family and friends. I didn't know him personally, but through his written and oral presentations of various actuarial topics, I can say that he represented our shared profession as few others have. It seems that he thought deeply about the matter at hand, pushing beyond widely-held understandings and encouraging new thought from his peers. His observations helped to shaped my own thinking on a number of risk-related matters, and I consider myself a...
