Don was the warm-hearted, funny, smart, welcoming father of my best childhood friend, Molly. He always made me feel part of the family. I have countless memories of going on family water-ski vacations with the Martins and Don was always such an embracing presence.

My condolences to the Martin family. In 1979, Don relieved me in the position of Labor Relations Director for Oregon, when I got transferred to Bremerton, which was the job that he retired from. We were district managers together for quite a few years, and I remember him with great fondness, and enjoyed the gourmet cooking of his several times.

Don was my boss's boss when I moved from the Business Office to a job in Staff Support in the late 1970's. I had no clue what I was doing but he continued to support me and even laughed at my stupid jokes. He knew my father Jack Miller well who also worked at PNB and always asked him how I was doing when they had get togethers after both of them retired. He was one of the good guys.

He coached me when I went downtown to the Lincoln Bldg. for my big interview. I was always grateful. Second, Don taught me how to tie a bow-tie, and I have frequently ever since then, wear a bow tie to special events. Last year at my daughters wedding I had my bow-tie on, and always...
