Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary, Inc. - Fallbrook Obituary

Donald Parke McLean, Jr. Loyal Husband, Dedicated Father, Proud Grandpa, True Friend, Kind Humanitarian Donald Parke McLean, Jr., a proud Fallbrook native, was born at Fallbrook Hospital on December 9, 1950. He passed away peacefully in his Fallbrook home on January 31, 2023. In the days leading up to his passing, he was blessed with many visitors, prayers, and an outpour of love and support by many family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Don, Jr. is predeceased by his father, Donald Parke McLean, Sr. and mother Marion, and survived by his wife of 26 years, Marcie McLean, brother William McLean, two sons Kris (Kristy) and Matt (Trina), daughters Lauren (Scott), Tiffany, Jessica (Nick), Nicole, and grandchildren Kelly, Cade, Averie, Ashlyn, Bryson, Makayla, Paige, Meranda, Daniel, Alayna, Jasmine, Donovan, Jaxon, and great grandchildren Ophelia and Skai. Don, or “Donnie” to his dearest loved ones, was the kindest soul you’ll ever meet. His greatest joys were his family and his beloved lifelong home, Fallbrook, CA. A true servant leader, Don’s dedication to his community was his lifeline and being a firefighter was everything to him. During his 24-year career with North County Fire Department, Don performed duties as a Firefighter, Engineer, and retired as a Captain, but Captain McLean truly lived and breathed North County Fire. He volunteered as Smokey the Bear and mentored numerous firefighters throughout his career. He thoroughly enjoyed seeing each person progress through their own careers as firefighters. Like his father before him, Don, Jr. was a passionate philanthropist with a long list of local organizations blessed to be beneficiaries of his kindness and support. He was a member of the Fallbrook Masonic Lodge, volunteered with International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and was a dedicated Board Member for Fallbrook Historical Society. For his passionate stewardship of the history of Fallbrook, Don earned the Fallbrook Historical Society Member of the Year Award in 2020. Even in his final days, he could be heard passing along his vision for preserving and sharing the history of the old Reche Schoolhouse, one of his passion projects during his retirement. As a stroke survivor and recipient of a heart transplant in 2011, Don was also an active supporter of the American Heart Association and proudly walked with his family in the San Diego Heart Walk for many years. He certainly was one helluva fighter; a humble, gentle giant with a heart of gold, always uplifting others and beaming with unconditional love for his family and his
neighbors. We are so grateful to have shared our lives with this wonderful man
and we invite you to leave a message in Don’s online guest book here on this

Not sure what to say?

Marcie, I will never forget how happy you were when you married your Prince Charming. It’s been a long time but that memory sticks with me. Blessing and prayers for comfort to you.

Always a light in every place. He was a living example of a hug from God. The world was better off whenever he was present. Have fun in heaven Don.

May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with your loved one comfort you and your family, today and always

Don, being a brother of the Badge and a Dear friend for over 40 years has been Honor. We had a great
adventure together until then.

We are so very sorry for your loss. Kris and the entire Mclean clan are in our hearts, minds and prayers. Your family in SC is with you, should you need us.

As you undertake the difficult task of adjusting to life without this sweet man in it, you can always be greatful for the example Don set and the wonderful years you got to share!

-Steve, Stephanie Jacob, Jobie and Cooper

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

Remembering a very nice guy so sorry to hear the sad news. My prayers are with you.
