Don and I worked together at the State Port and he was a valuable asset in his assistance to the varied functions
of the Port, Don was someone I could always count on. Every spring he would he come in and tell me he needed
some time off and I'd say why ? And he would say that the dogwoods and I'd say so? Well when the dogwoods
are blooming it meant the spots are running too..
Gotta go !! I'd say , have at it.

SGT. Monroe was the first supervisor I had when I joined WPD. I could not have ask for a nicer and helpful person to guide me along my career. He always seemed to have a smile on his face, never saw him upset. He was such a credit to Law Enforcement and WPD. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

I don’t know that he realized what a positive impact and role model he was to so many, especially those on the Wilmington Police Department, and especially me as a young police officer. Thank you for your dedication Sergeant Monroe. Rest easy now.
