As his children moved into high school, he cheered them on at all their sporting events and was a licensed official for Ohio High School Swimming and Diving competition.

Don is survived by his wife Helen (McGee) O’Flaherty, whom he married December 21, 1985; two sons, Daniel (Jennie) O’Flaherty of Frazeysburg and Joseph (Lauren) O’Flaherty of Howard, Ohio; one daughter, Sarah (Alec) Martin of Frazeysburg; two granddaughters, Maeve and Ish, and one sister, Janna (Jeff) Hetrick.  He is also survived by his brothers and sisters in-law, Robert (Paula) McGee, Jamie (Theresa) McGee, Judy (Jay) Lefever, Brenda (Tony) D’Ostroph, Dianna Pierce, and many nieces and nephews

Don was predeceased by his parents, John and Darlene (Cannon) O’Flaherty; his in-laws, Robert and Violet (Pierce) McGee and his brother-in-law, Matthew Pierce.

Friends and family may call from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at the Frazeysburg Chapel of Vensil & Chute Funeral Homes, 110 West Third Street.

Not sure what to say?

What a great guy! His dedication to family, faith, and friends says it all! We were co-workers and friends of Don over the last 20+ years! Our condolences to Helen and family! Don was always bragging on his loved ones!
Remember that he will live forever in your memories and hearts!

Please accept our condolences for your loss

Our sincere condolences, so sorry

I wish to extend my heart felt sympathy and prayers to Don's wife Helen and his children. Don and I were work colleagues and friends at DSCC/DLA Land and Maritime Columbus, Ohio. Don was great to work with and a hoot at fun times when we needed a break from the fast pace and serious work we did at DSCC/DLA Land and Maritime Columbus, Ohio. Don had a great sense of humor. We always shared our experiences about our farms, had great discussions about the trees at our farms, chainsaws and farm...

I am lifting up your entire family in prayer for comfort and peace in the days ahead. I work with Don’s niece and she shared stories of his generous heart and the closeness of this beautiful family. May your shared memories keep his soul alive and his presence felt within your hearts.
