Honaker Funeral Home, Inc. - Slidell Obituary

Donald “Don” Weber Olivier, 87, of Slidell, Louisiana, entered into eternal life peacefully at home on Friday, January 26, 2024.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Doris Olivier; his sister Lynn Olivier Cooley; first wife, Diane Blackstone Olivier; and a step son-in-law, Jeff Senseney.

Don graduated from Slidell High School in 1956 having played trumpet in the band and football on Friday nights. Don attended LSU before enlisting in the U. S. Coast Guard. He returned to work as a plumber in his father’s company, Olivier Plumbing & Heating, while attending Tulane University. He graduated with a degree in Accounting and joined a local accounting firm before a long career in banking, ascending to President of Parish National Bank. Don was an avid sportsman who enjoyed duck hunting with his brother and sons, and hunted and fished all over the United States and beyond. He was also an avid Tulane baseball and football supporter and long time season ticket holder. You could usually find Don reading his Bible on his back porch while enjoying God’s beauty. Don was a member of St. Timothy Methodist Church in Mandeville where he worshiped his Lord Jesus faithfully.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Scoggins Olivier; his brother, R. Bruce Olivier; his children, Steven Olivier (Monica), David Olivier (Robyn), and Jenee Olivier Landry (Michael); step-children Kim Thomas (Jeff) and Kellie Senseney; and grandchildren, Danielle Olivier Baxter (Jacob), Noah Landry, Peyton Landry, Allie Thomas Dixon (Curtis), Sydney Senseney, and Mixon Senseney. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday, February 2, 2024, at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd West, in Slidell.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am until -1:00pm with a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Toomer Cemetery in Lacombe.
