Mr. Redman was my teacher in '82-'83. Like many, I have always said he was the best/favorite/most inspirational teacher I have had in my life. There is no class before or since from which I can remember such vivid details including the things many have already mentioned and even several of the books he read to us. For me this is the sign of the inspiration and spirit of learning he had on so many of us.

Red was my fifth grade teacher in '68-'69 and my backyard neighbor for more than a decade. I just learned this evening of his passing.
I've been visiting Red about once a month this past year and it's been a couple weeks since I last saw him. We've shared books, bicycling stories, cookies, and lots of pleasant afternoons. I've been so impressed by how positive he's been, considering his failing health and the difficulty he experienced just getting around--what an inspiration....

I still recall the glee and excitement upon seeing my name assigned to Mr. Redman's class in the newspaper office window -- the way it was announced back then. My sister (see below) had him previously and I knew I wanted to be in his classroom.
So many memories similar to those mentioned before. The blank map (location of the Bonneville Dam, anyone?) was my favorite. More important was his ability to use that mix of traditional and unconventional approaches to reach each and every...

I had only taught 2 years (at Clearview) when I joined the Amherst Schools as a grade 5 teacher at Central School way back in 1973. I was still so new as a teacher, and I remember being in awe of Don Redman who always seemed so confident, cool, and calm. As so many of his former students have already expressed in these condolences, I also remember him being so well liked by his students. His classroom was definitely a place of learning, but he also had so much fun with his students! And...

I had Mr. Redman for 5th grade back in 1980 and he was the greatest teacher! He was always inspiring us kids to do more than we thought we could. What a great loss.

Mr. Redman was one of my favorite teachers. He made it fun to learn in his class at Central Elementary School in Amherst. He was a unique individual and clearly enjoyed teaching. His students were lucky to have him. Rest in peace Mr. Redman. You will be missed.

Mr. Redman was the teacher I wish all kids had, he fed the passion in you, kickball, pottery, projects, crosswords, the easel, his daily readings...he loved what he did and it showed. He truly was the best of the best. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
