Donald J. Rickett

I didn't just play football for him, I also coached with him. And he taught me a lot about volunteering. When St. Catherine needed a basketball coach for a girls' team (I don't remember what grade), he volunteered. He had no kids anywhere near the age of these girls, but there was a need. He also volunteered me to be his assistant coach. Then there was the 8th grade boys basketball team. I think Ted Sontag may have been on the team, but Don had no vested interest. But he volunteered...

What I learned during 1 year of coaching with Mr. Rickett carried me through 15 years of coaching. I'm sure that legacy is true for countless others, in countless ways. My condolences to the Rickett family.

Mr Rickett was a great friend to dad and great role model for me as a young coach. The St C's crowd taught me the meaning and value of life long friends. My prayers are with you and your family. Pat Groh

My condolences to Don's entire family. I have fond memories of Coach Rickett and St. Catharines football. He was a good man and great coach.
