Not sure what to say?

I have just learned of Don's passing. He was an extraordinary individual, a fine teacher, conductor, and human being. Don was a role model for me as I began my teaching career at Muskegon Orchard View in 1973 and indeed throughout my entire career. Don's foster grandson was in my Wyoming Rogers High School Band and he attended several of our concerts, including the final concert before Thai's graduation and my retirement. He was always complimentary about our performances and so encouraging...

Im sorry this is so late. I just learned of dear Mr Roelofs' passing. He started me on the flute at Bluffton Elementary in 1964 and was my band director at Bunker JH. I have retired from 32 years of teaching band & orchestra here in California and I truly owe my career to his inspiration and kind guidance. When I was at Muskegon HS, he was the one who encouraged me to teach private flute lessons at Bunker. I think that was what lead me to pursue music education.
Also, you may remember that...

Dear Millie, Kim, Fae, Amy and family.
It is with great sadness Charlotte and I learned of Don's passing. Your husband and Dad was one of the finest people we've been privileged to know. And, as a colleague, his friendship and wisdom knew no peer.
In sympathy,
Kent and Charlotte Krive

I was always surprised and glad when Mr Roelofs remembered me as a student. He was great. Amy, I pray the Holy Spirit comforts your family.

Mr. Roelofs was investing in our community long before it became fashionable to "Watch Muskegon Go." This was because he knew and loved the Lord, and as 1 John 5 says, Whoever has the Son has life. That life overflowed to bless others! He was a blessing over the years to Child Evangelism Fellowship, which is where I had the privilege of making his acquaintance. Praying for the family during this difficult time.

From the moment I signed-on to play the flute in Grade 4, Mr. Roelofs was a solid, consistent figure in my life. Music, as I would learn, was one of God's gifts to my life and stability, as a young person. Many of us grew up in the turbulent '60s and '70s. Mr. Roelofs taught us a strength and discipline that we needed. He was kind and direct, sensitive and taught us a broad array of musical scores. We marched in parades, Memorial Day down Lakeshore Drive, and we learned to be proud...

My deepest sympathy Millie and also to your family. Don was one of the nicest men I have ever met, always smiling and being so loving and kind. I know he was your rock. I hope you are doing OK. I was shocked tonight to read he passed away. May God give you peace and strength. Don will always be with you (now in spirit) Millie. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a wonderful man.

Dear Mrs. Roelofs and Family,

Like so many others I am saddened to hear of Mr. Roelofs passing. He was my first instrumental music teacher at Bunker Elementary School in the 1960's. With his kind manner, he taught us much more than just music. Men like him are a blessing to all who cross his path. He certainly blessed me.

Condolences. Don's passing is a loss for not only the family but the community
