RUST, Donald ? Of Flint, age 86, died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Fostrian Manor of liver cancer.

Memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, July 2, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Steve Wood
officiating.

Cremains to be interred in Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Military graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.

Memorial Visitation 1-4 and 6- 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donald was born in Mt. Morris, Township, Michigan on December 9, 1928, the son of Charles and Elaine (Nelson) Rust.

He served in the U.S. Army.

Donald enjoyed boating and music. The most popular activity throughout his life was singing. He was a beautiful tenor.

He was Commander of the Flint Outboard Skippers Club and also Commander of the Flint Power Squadron.

On August 31, 1957 he married Anna Marie Vesterlund in Flint.

Surviving are daughter, Elaine Marie Cussans;

son, David Hilding(Dawn) Rust;

grandchildren, Jenny Cussans, Justin Cussans (Amanda Carlson), Nicholas (Erika Swanson) Cussans, Kevin (Casie)Goss and Kasey Goss;

great-grandchildren, Lexi, Ethan, Lilly, Victoria, Aidrien and Landon;
twin sister, Dolores Tanner of Burton;
lifelong friend, Ed Glowski.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie, in 2014; son, Matthew, in 1982 and granddaughter, Kristina Goss, in 2013.

My father and I remember Uncle Don's ready smile, twinkling eyes, lovely voice - always ready with a song, his great kindness, and his deep and ever-present love of all his family. We hold him in our memories with great love, and my dear cousins in our thoughts and prayers.

Marty and I will miss Uncle Don's ever present smile and his beautiful singing voice. We are so sorry for your loss and hold you in our prayers.

Our condolences to your family. Don was a fellow boater and a valued member of the Flint Power Squadron. Don and Anna introduced us to the Chef's Table in the Sand Lake area and to the wonderful pies served there. Fond memories....

John and I are so sad to learn of Don's passing. We had many good times and laughs with him and Anna. We are glad, though, that they are together again. We hold the family in our heavy hearts at this difficult time.
