Not sure what to say?

I still think of Don from time to time, despite how long it has been since his departure from this life. Don exerted a lot of influence in the lives of colleagues because of the high standard of his work and the honesty of his personality. He did not need to "teach", for his example and his high standards in music librarianship and music journalism spoke for themselves, added to his really sweet and lovable personality.

It is a pity that librarians, even music librarians, pay little heed to library history. Even very significant music librarians, like Don Seibert, who did so much to advance the practice of music librarianship, particularly in the realm of sound recording understanding and collecting, receive too little recognition; the history of our profession languishes and this adversely affects our librarianship, since we learn too little from the past and from our pioneering figures, like Don Seibert....

I've written here before, years ago, but Don Seibert's memory still is fresh in my mind and I want you to know that. What a great librarian and friend. He was a paragon of knowledge and good sense. I knew him as a colleague, although we worked in different places and institutions. He was memorable!

I am really saddened to learn of Don Seibert's death. I greatly admired him as a music critic, having begun writing myself for "Fanfare" (as well as for other musical and librarianship publications) at about the same time that he did; his reviews of music by Tchaikovsky are among the best recordings reviews that "Fanfare" ever published, and consistently so.

Don was an highly genial and welcoming presence, never making any big point of his considerable learning and skills as a...

Dear Charles, I was deeply saddened to get the news of Don's passing. It has been many years since I worked for Don in the SU library and a number years we last saw each other. He was a fantastic mentor and pointed me on my path to librarianship. I have many fond memories of Don and have recounted several prize stories to friends over the years. I can't think of a better way to remember a friend than with a smile on my face and in my heart.

I'm so sorry to learn of this sadness. Don was such a great librarian/boss and my favorite music librarian. What a happy man and I am thankful to have known him.

Dear Charles, I will always remember his gentle demeanor and engaging smile. I know your memories will fill the empty places he's left.

Dear Charles, I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Donald. I will always remember his calming and loving energy. He will be deeply missed by many. Know that I am thinking of you at this most difficult time and keeping you in my prayers. God Bless You!

May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
