Donald A. Shepherd, 69 of McShan, Al, passed away Friday September 18, 2009 at Druid City Hospital, Tuscaloosa, AL.

Visitation was Sunday September 20, 2009 from 6-8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral services were Monday September 21, 2009 at 2 PM in the Lowndes Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ralph Smith and Bro. Raymond Robinson officiating. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.

Mr. Shepherd was born September 11, 1940 in Lowndes County, MS to the late John Aaron and Anna Bell Harris Shepherd. He was a graduate of Lee High School and Mississippi State University. Mr. Shepherd sang and played the drums on the Mac Miller Show which aired on WCBI. He also was employed with Southern Airways, American Bosch, Robinson Truck Lines, Q94 radio, the United States Postal Service and Shepherd’s Service Center in Ethelsville, AL. Mr. Shepherd was a retired truck driver, former business owner, loved gospel music and sang with the Columbian Quartet and the Bama Boys. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and his dogs. Mr. shepherd also enjoyed boating, Alabama football, hunting, cooking and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, Mr. Shepherd is preceded in death by his sister Judy Shepherd.

Mr. Shepherd is survived by his wife Robbie Bullard Shepherd, McShan, Al; daughters – Brenda (John) St. Pierre, Columbus, MS; Kim (Joseph) Poole, Gordo, AL; Grandchildren – John David St. Pierre, Chris St. Pierre and Josh Poole.

Pallbearers were Chris St. Pierre, John David St. Pierre, Josh Poole, Kyle Hubbard, Andy Tingle and Tony Bullard. Honorary Pallbearers were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rawls, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Hollis, Tony Easterwood, Mr. and Mrs. William Hinton and the faithful patrons of Shepherd’s Service Center.

To Donald's family: I am so sorry to learn about Donald's passing. We grew up in the same neighborhood and went to school together. Donald was one of my favorite friends and I was always glad to see him through the years. He had two very sweet parents and he was a really nice person, very funny and talented.
