Not sure what to say?

A treasured colleague, one of the most perceptive pastoral minds I've known, a true friend, a man who combined faith and learning in all that he did, a pure heart. Now a blessed memory!

I was fortunate to get to know Don in the late 1980s when I began my ministry as the Presbyterian campus minister at James Madison university. Dons mentorship of so many people, including me, shaped more than one generation of campus ministers. I grieve his death but am confident that this faithful servant is in the arms of our loving God.

Don was always a true Southern gentleman with a sparkle in his eye. I worked with him at the University of Redlands many years ago and always appreciated his thoughtful and compassionate approach to students.

Don came to Redlands when we were seniors, and very quickly became a friend and mentor. He performed our wedding, preached at my ordination, and showed up in Tucson (1,400 miles away) for our 25th wedding anniversary. He made such a difference and while we miss him dearly, we will always be grateful for his impact on our lives!

Don was chaplain at Emory when I became the United Methodist Campus Minister there in 1988. He was a gracious colleague and friend.
