Donald Eugene Smith passed away September 19 at Karen Acres Care Center, He was born in Leon, Iowa to Lavonne and Edith (Baker) smith. In 1956 he married Betty House. Don worked for Pioneer in Johnston for 38 years. He was a member of Meredith Drive Reformed Church. Don did not know a stranger; he loved children, animals and helping people. He had fond memories of a mission trip to Annville, KY with his church.

Don is survived by his sister, Beverly Miller, nieces, nephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his parents and his brother, Gary. A memorial service will be Monday, Oct. 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Merle Hay Funeral Home.
