Mr. Donald Joseph Springer, age 79, of Vevay, Indiana, entered July 18, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Joseph & Rose Ann (Meisberger) Springer, both of whom preceded him in death. He was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio & has resided in Switzerland County, Indiana, since 1971. Donald was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was united in marriage on October 3, 1953, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, to Carol Dean Toole & to this union arrived four daughters & seven sons to bless their home. Donald was a commercial roofer for Local #42 in Cincinnati, Ohio, for 50 years. He was a member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Plum Creek Baptist Church. Donald died Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 11:43 pm at his residence in Vevay, Indiana.

Donald will be lovingly remembered by his daughters: Donna Jo Nelson of Cincinnati, Ohio; Rebecca Carol Meyer of Vevay, Indiana; Debra Faye Springer of Vevay, Indiana; Colleen Rose Cox & her husband: James of Cincinnati, Ohio; his sons: Gary Lee Springer of Vevay, Indiana; Donald Timothy Springer of Vevay, Indiana; Kenneth Springer of Vevay, Indiana; Thomas Richard Springer of Vevay, Indiana; Douglas Laurel Springer & his wife: Beverly of Osgood, Indiana; Philip Wayne Springer & his wife: Robin of Vevay, Indiana; Joseph Garland Springer & his wife: Gwen of North Vernon, Indiana; his sister: Betty Springer of Harrison, Indiana; his brother: Robert Springer of Center Square, Indiana; numerous grandchildren & numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph & Rose Ann (Meisberger) Springer; his sisters: Marion Thomas & Dorothy Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 11:00 am, by Rev. Mike Jones at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043. Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.

Friends may call 10:00 am until time of service on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at the Haskell & Morrison 208 Ferry Street Vevay, Indiana 47043.

Military rites will be conducted by the honor guard of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 & the Vevay VFW Post #5396 at the Cemetery

Memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice or to the family. Cards are available at the funeral home.

So sorry for your loss. Papa Don was a good man and loving father as well as loving all who entered his heart. He didn't know a stranger and would do anything for anyone. I always had a good time going to Springer's for Christmas and seeing Santa..those where the good days. Lots of memories on Plum Creek and lots of good times. May he RIP and spread his wings for now he is home. With Love Dee,

To My Precious Family ... Dad was the most strong willed, good sense of humor and so well loved person. A Man who taught us so much in life and I will carry his knowledge on with my children and grandchildren and so on ...He never asked for anything, He was a man with pride and dignity, willing to help anyone in need...Stay strong in your faith and that will get us though anything we endure..I am proud of the Springer name!! We had the best Father,Grandfather,Uncle , Cousin, and Friend , etc...

To the whole Springer family: I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Don. He will surely be missed by many. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you Don and ALL of your family and friends.
