Not sure what to say?

Don, You were a great teacher, a great administrator, a great friend. You will be missed by all. Thanks for the plane ride you gave me many years ago. I'll always remember it. Ted Hoss

No doubt a great teacher that will truley be missed. It seems as if all the good ones are gone too soon, but I do look forward to the better times that are promised. To the family, I'm sorry for your loss. (2Cor. 1:3,4)

Dear Peggy & family,
Our family was shocked to hear of Don's sudden passing since speaking to you both just a few weeks ago. Yet we know with God's promise Don was welcomed into heaven. Don was such a faithful believer and servant of God.
We have been friends for years and share many special memories together. Jerry will miss Don's advice on his new aviation project. We are praying for you all. So sorry we could not be there with you to celebrate his life.

God Bless you,...

One of my favorite teachers. Fair, but no non-sense. I still call it the "State of Confusion" and the "Aurora Be-confused." And that flat-top haircut in the late sixies!

Mr. Straughn was one of my favorite teachers at Geneva High School (Class of '67). I appreciated his teaching even more after I went to college...he prepared us for the tough road ahead. Many years after graduation I ran into him and I shared with him my appreciation for all he had done for us. I hope he knew how much he was respected.

Very sorry for your loss. What a great witness Don's life is & was. God bless.

I had the priviledge to work with Mr Straughn when he was the part-time Dean at Coultrap Middle school. Jim Skaar said it perfectly...he was a great man! His poety was always a special treat to the faculty.

I was a member of the Class of 1972 at Geneva High School. I still think of Mr. Straughn as the toughest, and the most well-respected and best, teacher that I ever had. I know that this opinion is shared by a lot of other students. You should be proud.

Dear Peggy,
We were shocked to hear of Don's sudden death. You two have been our dear friends, fellow Gideons and care group members. We feel as if we have lost a member of our family. We rejoice, however, to know Don is in the presence of our Lord and Savior because of his faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Although we are separated for a while, we have God's promise that all of His redeemed will once again have a new home in glory...what a blessing! We will see Don once again, and that...
