Not sure what to say?

Don and I were good friends and went to high school in Millburn, NJ. After we graduated we hitchhiked to Kansas and Nebraska to work in the wheat harvest. We kept in touch over the years including at high school reunions. I'll miss seeing him again. My best to Marie, Janet and Mark and Dot, Don's sister.
All my best, George Gebauer

Dear Mrs. Sutherland, Janet, Mark and family:
I was so sad to read about your dad's passing. My deepest condolences. Janet, you know his proudest moment had to be walking you down the aisle, you were the apple of his eye, his princess. May all those memories get you through these difficult times and may God hold you all in the palm of His hand.

Don was a good friend who will be remembered. He was well respected by colleagues at Employment and Training Administration. He was a member of the subset of managers who cared about the mission of the agency. He loved to mentor new employees; he had many interests--he could talk for hours on social policy, science, history, current events. He sometimes expressed his views in letters to the Tribune. He maintained contact with ETA friends after retiring, and we will remember many...

Don will be missed even by those of us who knew him casually. His sense of humor and readily shared opinions were always on target and his willingness to pitch in where needed were memorable.

I first met Mr. Sutherland in July of 2007 while interviewing at St. Gregory Episcopal School. He was a remarkable man with a humble servant heart. I can see him in his corduroy suit coat earnestly campaigning for our young men. My deepest condolences to his beloved wife and family..
