Don was born and raised in Woburn, son of Irish immigrants Thomas G. and Sarah E. (Moffitt) Taylor. He was a graduate of Woburn High School, and attended both the University of California – Berkeley, and Bentley College, Waltham, and served in the United States Navy Medical Corps. during WWII.

A resident of Bolton since 1973, he was a former long-time resident of Reading, and served the Town of Reading for several years, as the Director of Veterans Affairs. He was then employed by “Suburban News,” a subsidiary of the Boston Globe, as an Internal Auditor for many years. Later, he was employed for more than 25 years until retirement, as Store Manager at the former Goddard’s News (later, The Paper Store) on High St. in Clinton – where he was a fixture in the downtown community.

A devout Christian, Don was a longtime member of Trinity Church, Bolton, and a former member of Park Street Church, Boston, serving on both the Board of Elders and Deacons, and in the Choir at both congregations. In addition, he devoted much of his time to area organizations, as a member of the Hudson and Clinton, MA Rotary Clubs, and as a member of the former Clinton Chamber of Commerce. Not sure what to say?

My Lord I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Taylors passing. He was my first boss and my favorite ever. I worked for him when I was in high school, first at Goddards, then the Paper Store. He was an intelligent, kind, generous, sweet man who taught me so many ways to be a better person. He was such an amazing human being and soul. I am a better person because of him and I will always be grateful. My condolences to your family. May God embrace him. Until next time we see him. God bless.

So sad to hear of Dons passing. Having a store next door to the Paper Store meant many conversations with such a wonderful man. When my mother was very sick he would always drop off flowers for her❤. He cared so deeply about his community whether it be at work, at church or his devoted family. I will miss his friendship but will always remember him with a great big smile.
