March 17, 1930 ~ July 24, 2014
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Donald Eugene Toomey, 84, passed away July 24, 2014 at home in St. George, Utah.
He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 17, 1930 and raised by his father Otto Norman and mother Eunice Judkins Toomey. He married his forever love Lorraine Beardall after returning from his LDS mission to South Aftrica.
Don was a man of integrity with an unfailing testimony of Jesus Christ. He put himself through Brigham Young University and supported his family with his dance band, the BYU Skyliners. His business career spanned 42 years of corporate and estate planning. Active in the LDS Church, he served in many teaching and leadership positions and with Lorraine served a mission to Hawaii.
Don is survived by his wife and four children; David, Phillip, Melodie and Sharyl. They are the proud grandparents of 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren who all love and adore him.
A "Celebration of Life" will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Sunset 10th Ward, 415 Westridge Drive in St. George, Utah. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Not sure what to say?

Don Toomey was my Scoutmaster in Danville, California. What a fine man! He instilled a love of Scouting in me that I have tried to pass on to my sons and grandsons. He led a group of us young and inexperienced Scouts on a 60 mile hike on the John Muir trail in the summer of 1965 that was the highlight of my teenage years. Next to my parents, Don had probably the greatest influence for lasting good on me until I left home for college. I just found his 3-year-old obituary on the Internet, but...

Lorraine, my condolences go out to you and your family in the loss of your dear husband. May you find peace in the days to come. Carole Hood

Dear Lorraine, We read of Don's passing and want you to know how much we have enjoyed, appreciated, and respected him through the years. You and Don have always been an IDEALIC couple and will continue to always be one. Our love and best to you and your family at this great absence, but joyful moment that life and togetherness is eternal. Bob and Carolyn Gay Driggs

I only met this awesome man once, but that one meeting left a great impression. To me, his greatest accomplishment is his incredible daughter, Shar. She is like no other. She talks about her dad like he is the greatest man that ever lived. What a legacy!

Your dad will always hold a place in my heart! Don and Lorraine were like parents to me! He was the most caring, loving, supportive, and fun man! You are very blessed to have had such a great dad! Love you Shar and Lorraine! --Jane Anne
