DOHERTY FUNERAL SERVICE Obituary

Tripp, Donald J. 67, of Ipswich, MA passed away Saturday July 29th, 2017.

Son of Agnes (Wallant) and Joseph S. Tripp (Middletown Hall of Fame inductee, Pratt & Whitney associate), Don was born in Middletown, CT on October 30th, 1949. He was raised in Cromwell, CT and spent his childhood playing on “The Manor.”

Don was part of the first graduating class of Xavier High School in 1967, continuing his education at Manhattan College where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Business in 1971. His love of sports, undoubtedly passed on by his father, started early in life. He played baseball throughout adolescence but after taking golf lessons a golf-pro encouraged his Father to forego baseball because “this kid was meant to play golf.” And Golf he did. Don was a consistent tournament winner.

He was a member of the Andover Country Club for 40 years. Later in life, he added fishing to his list of favorite activities. One of his favorite spots to surf cast was off the shore in Biddeford Pool, ME where he spent time every summer.

Don established a successful insurance agency: Dudley & Borland, Ellis & Andrews, which was located in Harvard Square in Cambridge, MA.

Above all else, Don was a loving family man, giving friend and always affable, gregarious and socially engaging. Donald J Tripp is survived by his wife JoAnn (O’Neill) Tripp, his daughter Joanna Tripp Ortiz, son-in-law Jorge A. Ortiz and his grandchildren Julia and Jace. His sister Linda Morrison, nephew Tod McKeon, nieces Jolie McKeon and Deanna Sowle.
