Don was the most intellectual person I knew in Vermont. He was so knowledgeable about world affairs and could hold debate and discuss just about anything with real knowledge and understanding of most situations. I always sought a seat beside him at KJ's bar, where he kept to a strict two beer limit. The first one was always on the house. My sincere condolences to Don´s family. I was so sorry to learn of the passing of a dear colleague and friend. Don and I overlapped for many years on the Board of Directors of the American Precision Museum, and then later, as volunteers, we worked together on the research side of the work of the museum, answering queries on the history of the Robbins & Lawrence Armory, machine tools, and antique guns, as well as the machine tool industry at large.
