Don, you were my great teacher and my great friend. Don's keen insights and warm hugs will be remembered by several of my children who went to Calvin. I also remember discussing some confusion I had with several sections of the Bible. What a ministry he had with the Calvin student body, and some of the parents as well. We were blessed to knew Don.

In the 1970s, my brother and I signed up for Don's Cultural Anthropology class because I'd heard that the prof understood the strange tribe that we belonged to---missionary kids. And he did. I'll always remember his calm, warm-hearted kindness.

Sorry to say goodbye to a good friend. He was a wonderful help to many students and fellow-teachers. I know we older ones all face that day of saying good-bye, but the happy fact is that we will be in a better place where there are no sorrows or fears. God bless his family and many students who will miss him. I will will miss him too.
