Donald Lee Wilson, 71, of Jacksonville, Fla., passed away on Aug. 1, 2021.
A native of Jacksonville, he was born Dec. 5, 1949, to Mabel L. Wilson and the late William D. Wilson.
Donni graduated in 1968 from Paxon High School and soon after married his sweetheart, L. Sharon Burnette in April of 1969.
He was a Christian by faith who raised three children in the admonition of his Savior.
Donni was Vice President at Don Wilson Mobile Homes on Lem Turner Road. In later years he owned and operated Don Wilson Builders and more recently D.L. Wilson Guitars.
He was a voracious builder who worked on cars, buses, watercraft, houses, commercial projects and musical instruments.
He built over 143 guitars and designed tools for other luthiers. Over his lifetime he gave exceedingly of his talents and time to people young and old.
His first love was for his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Sharon Wilson; his mother, Mabel Wilson; his sister, Norma McLeod; his daughter, Angela Wall (Brian); his sons, Garrett Wilson (Kim) and Adam Wilson (Hillary); and his grandchildren,n Bailey, Braxton, Trevor, Parker, Croft, Annabelle and Grant.
Services will be held in both Virginia and Florida for any who wish to attend.
A musical celebration took place outside on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Music Center, 700 Foothills Rd. Galax, Va. 24333. Seating wasn the green.
In the event of severe weather the event will be moved indoors to the Rex Theater also in Galax.
On Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021, at 6 p.m. a Celebration of Life will be held at The Barn, 15655 Tison Rd. directly off Pecan Park Road, Jacksonville, Fla. 32218.
