Not sure what to say?

I was attached to the 11th ACR in 1969 as a Pathfinder when GEN Starry was the the 11th ACR Commander. In 1975 I was an OCS Candidate under the command of his son, CPT Michael Starry. My sincere condolences to the Starry family.

I just read about Colonel Starry's passing and would like to say that he was a great person and military person I was his helicopter crew-chief in Viet Nam and had great respect for him God Bless

I just leaned of General Starry's passing. I had the great privilege of serving under him at Fort Knox. He was the wisest and most gracious officer I ever met. Rest in peace, Sir.

(Then) Colonel Starry was my Regimental Commanding Officer in Vietnam and Cambodia. We remained in contact over the years and I cherished his counsel. He was the finest officer I ever met. Rest In Peace Sir.

We welcomed General Starry into our family two years ago. During those two years, I was repeatedly awed by his wisdom, knowledge & dedication to his country. His service along with his commitment and sacrifice will never be forgotten, and his influence will forever live on through those who continue to serve. We were so blessed to have the opportunity to know him and to love him. Our prayers are with Karen & the entire Starry family.

When the word of General Starry's passing reached us, we were both saddened beyond words. It was a blessing and a privilege to have served with him at Ft Knox. What an impact he had on our lives! He was an inspiration to always seek the best in others and for others. Our friendship survived distance and separation. We are forever grateful for the support he and Letty gave us at the time of our son's death in his final year at West Point. And so we reach out to all this precious family now in...

His energy and vision inspired the new generation of warrior-scholar that even now re-defines the new battlefield in the war on terrorism.

Mike and family - just saw this announcement. Sorry to hear of the General's passing. I remember the times when he came to see you at Acacia and took you out to dinner, the anguish you felt when he took the 11th across the border and you didn't know what was happening, followed by the relief when he returned. I had the privilege to meet him again at a Senior Commanders Conference after he had introduced Sergeant's Business. More than perhaps any other of his generation, he put his stamp on...

My sincere wishes for comfort at this sad time.
I feel sure that he is looking down at all of you with loving care--as he always did--and on a happy note, I like to think that perhaps he is sharing a quick fun memory of a silent movie film starring Donn as the handsome hero,D Dudley Doolittle--and featuring Jim (Merryman) as J Roger Rotton--villain of the piece--both heroes in real life and irreplaceable in our hearts.
Love and prayers to Melissa and Melanie, Michael and Paul and...
