Not sure what to say?

I was honored to be taught by her during her last semester. I loved the Friday morning discussions which she always opened with "What have you heard about this week?" Her passion for teaching, learning, and the English language was prevalent in each word she spoke. She will be dearly missed by her students and fellow staff. Rest easy up there Donna, you were an inspiration to me and so many other young writers.

Nick and family, So sorry to hear about your loss. Your mother was a sweet lady. Take care of yourselves.

I'm so glad to have known this kindhearted woman. We often sat and talked before her class on Fridays. I enjoyed getting to know Donna and she was always sharing stories about her sons, her grandchildren, and her students. She could easily make me laugh, and I could tell she was an incredibly caring mother, grandma, and instructor. After my dad had heart surgery she was there for me to talk to and she even brought in information for me to pass along to him on how he could reduce his sodium...

I loved working with Donna--she was supportive, funny, and kind. She was also clearly proud of her sons. She will be greatly missed.

Josh and Nick:
I don't know you, but I knew Donna, which means I know about your childhoods, teen years, adult years, family and friends, happy times, sad times, family gatherings, special occasions, and all that goes with family. I was privileged and honored to know her for nearly 20 years. She was a colleague at Washtenaw Community College (WCC), and a dear friend. She loved you very much, and she loved being your mother.

Brad, Makinley, Presley, and Easton:
I heard...

Donna was an inspirational teacher--smart, compassionate, and with strong convictions. She was also generous and kind. She always brought enough fudge for an army to our faculty gatherings. She will be deeply missed.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Dearest Josh and Nick,
Your mother was a beautiful soul with a sharp, witty mind and a loving heart. I am grateful that I had the pleasure of growing up with her words of wisdom and unconditional love for all. My deepest sympathies to the both of you and your families.

I feel so lucky to have known & worked with Donna, and so sad not to have more time to get to know her. Wishing comfort to her family.
