Donna Lee Boutelle Donna Lee Boutelle passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa, California on January 17, 2008, surrounded by her son, Devon, and her brother and sisters. Donna was born October 8, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa, and moved to California as a teenager. She earned her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D....

I move to Asia in 2000 and when I returned in 2016 my opportunities to do more and share more were forever lost, and I still regret and grieve her for more time. Donna and I arrived the same year at CSULB, two women imedieval historians in a group of 12 new facultyl and shared an office. Donna was a strong character, and became a leader among us all. Donna had devoted students, though she was the most demanding member of the department. We protested the war together. Though it's many years since I've seen her, my memories of her are still vivid, and I miss her a great deal.
