Donna Jeanne Cappell-Smith

My condolences to the family. I was a waitress at Germania for about 10 years. I had the pleasure of getting to know her over this period of time. She was a wonderful woman with a big heart. Every Christmas she would ask for a list of the waitstaff’s children, their ages and likes and bought them all Christmas presents. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Donna was a very good friend of our parents. We remember all the wonderful times that were shared at the Germania and Saturday night get togethers. We enjoyed talking to her at our parents’ annual Christmas party. Time goes so quickly, but we have many fond memories of your parents and that special group that so enjoyed each other. Our condolences to the family. My Dad was a longtime friend to Donna Jeanne and George. We heard many good stories over the years. My Dad especially enjoyed the times at the Germania Club having dinner with them. Prayers and thoughts are with all of you.

Mrs. Cappell was one of those teachers that you remember for your entire life. She was a great teacher, who demanded the best from her students. My success in business can partially be attributed to her forcing me to learn how to communicate better. Thank you Mrs Cappell.

I was a 1976 graduate of Arthur Hill High School and Mrs. Cappell was my favorite teacher. She challenged us all to do our best and I had a deep respect for her. In my senior year I brought her a fresh quart of strawberries and I still have her thank you note! She was a special woman. My prayers for comfort go out to her family.

As an AHHS 1971 senior, I had the privilege of being in Mrs. Cappell’s honors English class. It was a challenge and sometimes frightening, i.e., senior thesis. But I admired her, appreciated her sly wit and winning smile. Sorry for your loss, Dan, Mickey, Sandra and family.
